“It’s Meant to Be Personal” is a first-person documentation of an Internet dating expedition. Diving into the whirlwind of virtual reality, amid floating desire and entangled passion, the filmmaker initiates online encounters with those who also transform themselves into codes and numbers. Starting out from two-dimensional computer monitors, they expand the connection into the distracting three-dimensional reality. Yet every move of their interaction is under the constant surveillance of a recording video camera. In the presence of this third eye, the ordinary strangers, once again, transfigure into characters on the screen, acting out the improvised scenarios for one another. Could a connectedness stemmed from virtuality flourish in actuality?
