FIKE 2008 - Festival Internacional de Curtas Metragens de Évora will choose, every year, a partner association to benefit from a fund raising action.
This year the choice fell on the Association “Cantinho dos Animais”, for its role in the defense and protection of animals. Part of the profits from the Closing Session of the Festival is intended to support the activities of this association.

Association “Cantinho dos Animais”

The Association Cantinho dos Animais was formed in 1979 and is recognized as legal person of Public Utility since 1988.
It’s main objective is to promote and defend animal rights in different aspects: to denounce and fight cruelty towards animals, to improve their living conditions, sensitization to the cause of animal and environment defence and improving public health.
It’s main activity is focused in collecting of abandoned animals and guiding them to adoption, as well as in the promotion of public opinion in sensibilization campaigns.
”Cantinho dos Animais” directs a Temporary Welcoming Centre (CAT) for dogs and cats without any public or private support, it depends solely on quotas paid by the associates, from donations and from activities promoted by its members and direction cooperators working as volunteers.

As a mean of sensitization and promotion, the Cantinho dos Animais creates, from time to time, adoption campaigns in several places of the District of Évora, besides promoting entertainment and social activities through partnerships with other entities and associations.
