Gilli Mendel
Gilli Mendel is the Director of Film and Media Education, and Director of Projects at the Jerusalem Film Center, home to the Jerusalem Cinematheque and the Israel Film Archive.
In recent years, Gilli has initiated the annual Wim Van Leer competition for Israeli high school students, presenting their films at the festival.
In 1999, she developed the “I Am, You Are - Films and Identity” film project that is held every summer at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. This project, featured in FIKE 2011, brings together Jewish and Arab high school students for an intensive month of cooperative filmmaking, culminating in the screening of the films made.
Joana Toste
Joana Toste was born in 1970. She got her degree in industrial design, followed by a post-graduate degree in the same area at the Glasgow School of Art/Centro Português de Design. During this period she studied painting at Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa and in 1992 interrupted her studies during one year, to perform animation studies at Tobistoon. Since then, she has worked in animation, collaborating with several studios and developing her own projects. In 2004 she created her own production’s company called gomtch-gomtch. Simultaneously, she works in illustration, theatre set design, workshops for children and web design. She had been invited from several festivals for being jury.
Carla Osório
Carla Osório is a Brazilian journalist and photographer, Master of Arts in Media, Culture and Communication. She holds the functions of curator and executive producer of the Mostra Produção Independente and director of communications of the Congresso Brasileiro de Cinema.
She monitored the working up of the catalogue "81 Anos de Cinema no Espírito Santo", edited by the Associação Brasileira de Documentaristas e Curtas metragistas do Espírito Santo (2007) and, as a photographer, she published the photo-series "Herdeiros do Axé" and "Negros do Espírito Santo".

António Carrapato
António Carrapato was born in Reguengos de Monsaraz in 1966, and studied Photography at AR.CO, in Lisbon. Started as a photojournalist in the Azorean daily paper Açoriano Oriental, and worked later for Diário Popular, A Capital and Correio da Manhã. Since 1998, he covers the Alentejo region for Público, the leading Portuguese daily paper. Also collaborated in important newspapers and magazines like A Bola, Record, Visão and Grande Reportagem.
Meanwhile, he develops his own projects and has published eight books. He frequently exhibits his work, which is included in various collections.
Founding member of Estação Imagem, a center for the promotion and study of image.
António Menêzes
Born in Cascais (1956), António Menêzes lived for eighteen years in Holland, where he started his professional activity as cameraman/director and where he produced his first documentary film in 16mm, influenced by the Dutch documentary school. During the last sixteen years he has lived in Évora, where he founded his own video production company (documentary films, newsreels and commercial clips). In 2008, his documentary film (53 min.) about the Cante Alentejano (Alentejo’s traditional choir music) had its première in FIKE, out of competition.
José Manuel Martins
José Manuel Martins is an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy of Évora University, where he lectures since 1990. Member of the Lisbon Philosophy Center.
His areas of activity and interest include Aesthetics (as related to the various Arts, Architectures and Literature), Philosophy and Cinema, Mythical Thought. Public performance in piano concerts.

Sofia Almeida Ferreira
Sofia Costa de Almeida, 27 anos, natural de Viseu, Portugal, é Mestre em Psicologia e exerce em Clínica Privada. Especializada em Terapia Familiar, Hipnose Clínica e EMDR é no cinema e, especificamente, no Cine Clube de Viseu (CCV) que realiza a sua actividade complementar.
Membro da direcção do CCV desde 2009, participa na selecção de filmes a divulgar semanalmente nas sessões de cinema para todos os públicos e em diversas actividades e decisões desta Associação. Participou também em toda a organização das duas edições (2010, 2011) do Festival Vista Curta, onde integrou o grupo de selecção preliminar de filmes.
Individualmente, frequenta festivais de cinema como o FEST ou o Festival de Cinema Europeu de Sevilha e participa em workshops sobre cinema, como o Vanguardas organizado pelo CCV.
Os interesses no âmbito do cinema prendem-se, essencialmente, com a realização cinematográfica, interessando-se, actualmente, pela construção de argumentos e pela organização de formações específicas de realização através do CCV.
Kata Kovacs
Kata Kovács graduated last year at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, in Film Studies and English Literature. Also in 2010, she participated in a project by the European Parliament and Europa Cinemas called “27 Times Cinema”, at the 67th Venice Film Festival. She has worked for film festivals as an editor and writer of press materials and web news. In 2009, she was one of the founding editors of film art quarterly ’Prizma’. In addition to the journal, they run a blog and a series of film club events, currently with Scandinavian movies. She has been a film writer, an assistant director, a schoolteacher and a translator, and she loves Danish cinema, Woody Allen and Sofia Coppola.
Eric Schaer
Eric Schaer was born in Switzerland, in a little town of Canton de Neuchâtel called Le Locle. His mother language is French. He studied Mathematics at the University of Neuchâtel and later started working as information technologist, developing hardware drivers, database and application-software.
Very early in life he was captivated by cinema and had a very active cine club in high school. Now he belongs to a little team of friends, where he is active as operator. The whole group decides and chooses its own season program together. They show a film a week in the theater of Langenthal.
